The Role
Reporting within the Site Operations team, this role is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient execution of major and minor shutdowns, while overseeing maintenance contractor activities across site. You will play a key role in ensuring shutdown works are delivered safely, on schedule, and to a high standard through strong leadership, planning support, and contractor management.
This role suits a proactive leader with strong communication skills who thrives in a heavy industrial environment and enjoys coordinating people, contractors, and maintenance activities in a fast-paced operational setting.
Responsibilities
- Support the safe execution of major and minor plant shutdowns and outages
- Coordinate and manage contractor resources on shutdown and day to day maintenance activities
- Facilitate daily shutdown meetings and provide progress reporting across safety, cost and schedule performance
- Assist planning and engineering teams with shutdown schedules and scopes of work
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures and statutory requirements
- Conduct workplace inspections, critical risk verifications and contractor audits
- Review and authorise JHAs, risk assessments and contractor safe work systems
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to contractor trades and supervisors
- Promote strong collaboration and communication between operations, maintenance and contractors
- Ensure maintenance and shutdown activities are completed to required quality standards
What you will need to succeed
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification
- Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, mining or fixed plant environments
- Previous shutdown coordination or frontline supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance principles and shutdown execution
- Ability to interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings
- Experience working with contractor management and permit-to-work systems
- Competent with SAP and Microsoft Office systems
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively while managing competing priorities
- Flexibility to support shutdown and call-out requirements as needed
