Are you an experienced Project Engineer or Manager ready to take ownership of high-impact engineering projects in a complex, regulated environment? We are seeking a motivated professional to join a leading chemical manufacturer operating a Major Hazard Facility (MHF) in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in process, mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering who thrives in a hands-on, site-based environment. You’ll be responsible for managing brownfield projects end-to-end, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering safe, cost-effective engineering solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and deliver capital projects from concept through to commissioning.

  • Manage project scope, estimation, design, installation, and commissioning.

  • Provide discipline-specific engineering services (studies, analysis, detailed designs, calculations, and reports).

  • Ensure compliance with MHF and EPA regulations and manage critical engineering documentation (P&IDs, hazard area dossiers, electrical drawings).

  • Support site operations with engineering enhancements that drive productivity, reliability, and safety.

  • Analyse project costs, schedules, and risks; provide regular reports to stakeholders.

  • Drive the implementation of engineering excellence across site and with contractors.

About you

  • Degree-qualified Engineer (Process, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical).

  • Proven project management experience within chemical manufacturing, liquid processing, or similar industrial environments.

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – able to “talk straight” and build alignment across teams.

  • Hands-on, site-based experience with brownfield projects highly regarded.

  • A safety-first mindset with the courage to challenge and drive improvement.

What’s on offer

  • 12-month contract with the potential to transition to permanent.

  • A senior engineering role with real project ownership.

  • The chance to influence critical site improvements at a regulated Major Hazard Facility.

  • Work in a collaborative, future-focused team that values innovation, transparency, and safety.

  • Competitive salary package and opportunities for professional growth.
