The role
As a Senior Principal Structural Engineer (Bridges), you will lead the design and delivery of complex bridge and transport-structure solutions across WA. - Act as technical authority: undertake/oversee design checks, reviews and technical governance of drawings, models and reports
- Own delivery outcomes for your projects—scope, programme, budget, risk and resourcing
- Be a trusted client partner: lead technical discussions, resolve issues early and identify opportunities to add value
- Support business growth through bids and proposals—technical inputs, estimates, win themes and delivery approaches
- Coach and mentor engineers, building capability and a culture of strong engineering judgement and ethical practice
- Champion HSEQ: embed safety in design, ensure compliance with WSP HSEQ systems and project requirements
- Drive digital delivery and innovation—effective use of 3D modelling, model-based outputs and modern workflows
- Contribute to knowledge sharing through internal networks, technical development and professional leadership
What you’ll bring
Must have
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Extensive consulting experience delivering major bridge/transport-structure projects
- Proven leadership across technical delivery (design management, reviews, governance) and team development
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and WA client requirements (Main Roads WA, PTA) for bridge design
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills (clients, reviewers, contractors and internal teams)
- Experience with digital delivery and 3D structural modelling workflows (model review, coordination, model-based outputs)
- Commitment to safety in design, ethics, quality and continuous improvement
Nice to have
- Chartered status (e.g., CPEng or equivalent) and/or registration (or a clear pathway to achieve it)
- Experience leading bids, frameworks or key-client accounts in the transport sector
- Construction-phase support and design-for-constructability experience on complex bridge packages
