In this role, you'll:

 

Join the Engineering, Design and Assurance (EDA) team that oversees the engineering, design and assurance requirements across all Sydney Metro projects throughout the project lifecycle. The team is accountable for the Sydney Metro product, driving continuous improvement through innovation and industry leading thought and action.

 

Reporting to the Associate Director Engineering – TSMO & IRCS, you will provide discipline authority and engineering assurance for all mechanical systems across the project lifecycle, ensuring safety, compliance, operability and maintainability in accordance with Sydney Metro requirements. The Scope of Systems covers HVAC and tunnel ventilation; fire and life safety mechanical systems; hydraulics; lifts and escalators; mechanical plant for stations, tunnels and stabling facilities.

 

Your accountabilities will be to: 

 

  • Lead mechanical engineering teams, allocate reviewers, mentor discipline leads, and provide authoritative advice to senior leadership.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple package technical solution for SMW across TSMO,LW, SPW, HST, PYR, OLP, PTA packages  and systems integration.
  • Foster a collaborative and solution-focused environment across internal teams and external delivery partners.
  • Provide expert technical advice to support delivery decisions and whole-of-program outcomes
  • Contribute to achieving safety, reliability, operability, maintainability and whole-of-life performance objectives.
  • Mechanical discipline authority across all packages and phases.
  • Assurance of design compliance with contractual, statutory and safety requirements.
  • Endorsement of mechanical designs at DS2, DS3 and IFC.
  • Ownership of mechanical risk and safety-in-design outcomes.
  • Resolution of cross-discipline interfaces.
  • Support testing, commissioning and operational readiness.

 

This is a full-time fixed term Opportunity until 30/06/2031 Transport Senior Service Manager TSSM level role offering an attractive remuneration package.

About you 

 

  • Significant experience as a senior engineering leader with substantial experience delivering rail/metro train control and station systems through detailed design, integration, and commission into operations.
  • Proven integration across Mechanical Systems for Metro or similar infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of the legislation, policy, business processes and practices involved in planning for and delivering major rail projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of engineering and design experts and delivery of technical outcomes in a complex project environment.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for Level 2-3 (minimum) competency for Mechanical Systems   above in accordance with the Sydney Metro Competency Management system.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering for MEP Role.
  • Demonstrated level of relevant and continued professional development equivalent to CPEng conferred by Engineers Australia or relevant professional body.
  • The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker.
