Civil Engineer

Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company working on road, rail and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We maintain a fleet of modern drill rigs, support equipment and tools that are at the forefront of the industry.  

We are currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Lidcombe, Sydney NSW.

Responsibilities include:

  • Experience in client facing roles, developing good working relationships with other professionals within wider project teams. Build and maintain client relationships with new and key clients thus developing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to support the NSW team, including allocation of resource, supporting, development of staff and lead project teams through the site investigation and consulting project lifecycle.
  • Design, plan and manage geotechnical site investigation projects to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Interpret site investigation data and prepare guidance, consulting advice, and geotechnical designs.
  • Management of project finances including invoicing, preparation and working to budgets, sub-contractor contracts etc
  • Provide contribution to planning and business development of the NSW Geotechnical Operations geotechnical and support the General Manager based on strategic growth in Queensland and Victoria.
  • Promoting Health and Safety knowledge and understanding.

To be successful for the position you must have the following experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology.
  • Minimum Fifteen years’ experience in planning, managing, and delivering Site Investigations.
  • Chartered CPEng or Cgeol and RPEQ / NER Status.
  • Foundation design and ground improvement works experience.
  • Budgeting and expense reporting. 
  • Keen observation skills to monitor the safety performance of a workplace and identify risks or hazards. 
  • Excellent organisational skills for all documentation related to workplace compliance and WHS program to educate employees. 
  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role.
  • A current drivers licence.
