KBR’s Infrastructure Solutions business has grown significantly over the past few years following a succession of major project wins and new partnerships across Australia. To support this growth we are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to provide market and delivery leadership across a diverse portfolio of transport, water, energy, and broader civil infrastructure projects. 

You will provide technical expertise, leadership and mentoring to our established civil engineering team. The role will focus on developing execution strategies during tenders and then leading the delivery of civil infrastructure components of major capital works projects. Depending on the project, this may also include design management for civil works, site infrastructure and complex multidisciplinary interfaces. 

Who are you? 

You will bring extensive experience in a similar senior civil engineering role within the construction, buildings, infrastructure, transport, water or energy sectors, with a proven ability in design management and coordination of complex engineering projects.

You will have experience leading and managing teams of civil engineers and designers, supported by strong knowledge of Australian Standards, relevant codes, and the NCC/BCA. 

Specialist technical experience in areas such as transport infrastructure, water or wastewater assets, energy & defence infrastructure, would be highly regarded. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Project management of civil engineering tasks, including investigations and the preparation of technical reports, designs and drawings, contract documentation and technical specifications 

  • Reviewing and verifying engineering calculations, reports and deliverables prepared by others within the team 

  • Leading the delivery of high-quality design documentation and drawings produced by the project team 

  • Supervising project staff and reviewing deliverables to ensure compliance with technical, safety and quality assurance standards 

  • Preparing or leading proposal and project teams to develop technically sound, well-written and clearly articulated proposals, reports, specifications and calculations 

  • Achieving or exceeding budget, schedule and commercial targets for assigned projects and proposals 

  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of client needs and fostering high levels of client satisfaction 

  • Actively maintaining and enhancing KBR’s technical reputation and client relationships across the transport, water, energy and civil infrastructure sectors
