Description

JOB OVERVIEW: We are seeking a skilled operator to run a 5-tonne excavator and skid steer for soft landscaping projects. The role primarily involves excavation works such as boxing out landscaping areas and preparing sites for installation of topsoil, mulch, planting, and turf. As most of our projects utilize compact machinery, experience operating small excavators is essential.
This position is hands-on and team focused. When machine operation tasks are completed, the operator will be expected to assist the crew with general landscaping duties including soil preparation, planting, and site clean-up. We are looking for someone reliable, safety-focused, and willing to be part of a collaborative site team environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION: 

•    Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
•    Preparing and positioning plant for operation on site.
•    Operate the machine and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
•    Selecting, fitting and removing attachments such as buckets, scoops, shovel blades, rock breaking hammers, winches and blades.
•    Work with ground personnel.
•    Operating controls to excavate, break, drill, level, compact, gouge out, move, load and spread earth, rock, rubble, soil and other materials.

•    Working from drawings, markers and verbal instructions.
•    Servicing, lubricating, cleaning and refueling plant and performing minor adjustments and repairs.

 



Skills And Experiences

SELECTION CRITERIA:

ESSENTIALS:
•    2 years operating experience 
•    Excavator ticket
•    White Card 
•    Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence (Heavy Rigid Licence minimum)

DESIRABLE:
•    First Aid Certificate.
•    Construction Induction (White Card)
•    Working with Children (Ochre Card)
