We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operations Manager to lead our Northern Regions plant operations based on the Gold Coast. This hands-on leadership role will oversee daily plant performance, maintenance, compliance, utilisation, people and resources to support safe, reliable and efficient plant, equipment and fleet services across civil construction projects. The successful applicant will lead and support teams, strengthen systems and processes, improve commercial outcomes and ensure plant operations meet the needs of site teams, internal stakeholders, clients and future business growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead Gold Coast plant operations to ensure plant, equipment and fleet resources are safe, reliable, available and effectively utilised across civil construction projects
- Oversee plant allocation, scheduling, mobilisation and demobilisation in line with project priorities, operational requirements and commercial objectives
- Lead, mentor and support plant supervisor and plant operators to deliver safe, efficient and accountable outcomes
- Drive safety leadership and compliance with WHS requirements, plant risk controls, operator competency, inspections, pre-starts and relevant legislative and company standards
- Manage fleet utilisation, availability, costs, budgeting, forecasting and reporting to improve efficiency, productivity and financial performance
- Build strong relationships with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and senior management to support project delivery, fleet planning and business growth
- Improve systems, processes, compliance documentation, workforce capability and operational workflows to support current and future business needs.
Essential requirements:
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision, a trade qualification or equivalent competency, and a current driver's licence.
- Significant experience in plant, fleet or equipment operations, including proven leadership experience in a plant hire or civil construction environment.
- Strong commercial understanding, with the ability to manage utilisation, costs, performance and return on investment.
- Sound knowledge of WHS, NHVR, plant compliance and safe operating requirements.
- Strong knowledge of earthmoving, road transport and heavy haulage equipment.
