About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Labourer / Forklift Operator to join our team in Slade Point, Mackay QLD.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for safely operating forklifts and overhead cranes, receiving and dispatching goods, maintaining inventory, and providing workshop support for the assembly, maintenance, and refurbishment of mining and materials handling equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong forklift experience who enjoys working in a busy workshop and warehouse environment while contributing to the successful delivery of projects for the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities
ย 
  • Receive incoming goods and inspect for damage and discrepancies
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
  • Unload containers and place stock into designated storage areas
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders to customer specifications
  • Maintain stock levels and consumable inventories
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory checks
  • Ensure accurate storage and identification of parts and materials
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes in a safe and compliant manner
  • Workshop & Labouring Support
  • Assist with assembly and disassembly of mining and materials handling equipment
  • Support maintenance and repair activities on fixed and mobile plant
  • Perform minor welding, fabrication, painting, and cleaning duties
  • Ensure steel and materials are correctly identified and marked
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workshop and steel yard
  • Assist tradespeople and workshop personnel as required
  • Follow all WHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices
About You

You are a dependable and motivated team player who takes pride in working safely and maintaining high standards of quality and housekeeping.

Essential
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • High Risk Forklift Licence
  • Minimum 5 years' experience operating forklifts
  • Prior experience operating overhead cranes
  • Previous stores, warehouse, or workshop experience within mining, manufacturing, engineering, or materials handling industries
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to perform manual handling and physical work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Reliable work ethic with a willingness to support multiple areas of the business
