Description

Main Purpose of the Role 

Assist trades people by carrying out labouring duties as directed.

Key Responsibilities 

Includes but not limited to the following: 

  • Perform all tasks and duties in a safe manner as directed by the Direct Line Manager 
  • Assist with the construction, maintenance and repair of small, medium and large structures and buildings during all phases of construction and maintenance. 
  • Assist with all civil and construction works as required 
  • Competently operate and use all plant and equipment as trained, supervised and as specified 
  • Ensure all plant and equipment operated by you is safe to operate and in good condition 
  • Undertake daily maintenance of item(s) of plant and equipment operated as directed 
  • Report defects in any item(s) of plant and equipment to the Direct Line Manager 
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times 


Skills And Experiences

Qualifications 

Minimum level of knowledge/skills/training required to carry out the job: 

  • Nationally Recognised Construction Induction 
  • Grade 10 standard of education and/or demonstrated ability to read, write and perform basic numerical calculations to a standard commensurate with the duties involved in the position
  • You will need to be physically fit due to the physical nature of the position which requires lifting and repetitive bending 
  • This position is an outdoor position that requires work in a harsh outdoor environment exposed to the elements 
  • This position may involve working with concrete, paint and asphalt 
  • Hazard identification and a strong awareness of safety issues are important because of the high-risk nature of the environment 
  • Basic skills in oral and written communication 
  • Manual handling skills / lifting techniques 
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of concreting 
  • Competent in the safe use of handheld power tools and machinery 
  • Developed skills in the safe and competent operation of designated equipment 
  • Drivers Licence 
  • First Aid qualification
  • Electrical Test & Tag Licence, Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform High Risk Licence are highly regarded

Work Experience 

Considered necessary to do the job effectively: 

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in the construction industry
