What’s on offer?

We currently have a vacancy for a Laboratory Technician to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at our Eastern Creek site. This position will suit either entry level or experienced candidates looking to take the next step in their career.

You’ll be Accountable for

The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of asphalt, aggregates and bitumen to relevant standard methods in our NATA Laboratory, as well as monitoring compaction and conducting testing in the field. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor your responsibilities will include;

  • Perform hands-on sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates and bitumen, including onsite sampling and compaction monitoring, in line with specified requirements and relevant standards

  • Safely handle and manage chemicals, and maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory and surrounds

  • Manage reporting, record keeping, calibrations and non-conformance reporting

  • Provide technical support to production departments and maintain the laboratory to NATA requirements

  • Willingness to travel and work days, nights and some weekends as required by the business

Travel will be required, based on the needs of the business including dayshift, nightshift and some weekend work will be required.

How you’ll connect to the role?

To be successful in this position you will require the following skills/experience:

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

  • Professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Honest, confident, reliable, punctual and safety‑conscious team player who respects others

  • Current and valid Driver’s Licence, and willingness to travel for away work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (advantageous)

  • Experience or interest in heavy industries such as asphalt, cement or quarries (advantageous)

  • Understanding of Australian laboratory standards (advantageous; full training provided)
