City of Parramatta has partnered with My Gateway and we are looking for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. 

As a part of the 4-year apprenticeship, you will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

As part of the apprenticeship, some of your responsibilities may include:

• Assist qualified mechanics in carrying out allocated work programs in preparing, repairing and maintaining plant and mechanical equipment.
• Assist with diagnosing faults and carry out repairs utilising appropriate work practices, techniques, tools and equipment.
• Maintain the mechanical workshop, ensure the area is in a clean and safe condition.
• Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed.
• Show initiative by providing feedback and input on improvements in operating procedures, programs, and work schedules.
• Learn and demonstrate an awareness of cost and ensure that operations are undertaken efficiently with minimal waste.
• Ensure correct completion of all necessary administrative functions (electronic or paper-based) associated with the department.

To be considered, you must:

• Hold a current NSW Drivers License.
• Have a current White Card (Or willing to obtain).
• The capacity to undertake the physical requirements of the position and area of specialisation
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning a hands-on trade.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate and ability to effectively use a computer or iPad.
