ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Grounds Trade Assistant, you will play an important role in maintaining the high standard, appearance, and presentation of the School’s gardens and grounds. Working as part of a team, you will help ensure the campus remains a clean, attractive and welcoming environment for students, staff and the wider community.
This is a hands-on role involving a broad range of grounds maintenance activities, including pruning, planting, mulching and weed control and pest and disease management. You will also support turf maintenance across the School’s ovals and sports fields, and take pride in the day-to-day presentation of the campus, with a strong focus on leaf and debris management.
Reporting to the Senior Grounds Officer, you will assist with minor landscaping projects such as paving, retaining walls and garden bed installations. You will also support the setup and pack-down of sporting facilities and events.
In this role, you will safely operate and maintain a range of equipment, respond to work requests in a timely manner, and contribute to a proactive and efficient grounds service. A strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety is essential, including the safe handling, application and storage of chemicals, and the proper use and maintenance of all tools and machinery.
This is a full time, ongoing position, inclusive of the school holiday periods.
ABOUT YOU
You are dependable and hardworking and bring solid practical skills and a proactive approach to your work. Some experience in the maintenance of gardens, parks or open public spaces is desirable as is experience operating and maintaining small garden equipment.
You may have horticultural knowledge, including plant identification, pest and disease management, or a willingness to learn.
Highly organised and reliable, you manage your time effectively and can work both independently and as part of a team. You are adaptable, take direction well and contribute positively to a collaborative school environment.
Safety is front of mind in everything you do. You understand the importance of Workplace Health and Safety requirements and demonstrate a consistent commitment to safe work practices.
