Properties:

About New Norcia and Koojan Downs Farms:

  • New Norcia is a premium 8,090 hectare farm fronting the Moore River, 135kms north of Perth and 45 kms east of Koojan Downs Feeding Facility.
  • The Koojan Downs aggregation is made up of Koojan Downs, Water Hill, Damper Downs, Avena Vale, Corner block, Willow Springs, Danmoor and Swarts farms.  It comprises 10,472 hectares.

About Hill River Farm:

  • Hill River Farm is a 5,300-hectare premium agricultural property located 12km inland from Jurien Bay on WA’s mid-west coast, 2.5 hours north of Perth. Operations here focus on intensive pasture management and optimising cattle weight gain prior to entry to the feedlot.

Opportunities:

  • We are currently seeking enthusiastic and energetic Backgrounding Livestock Hands, Farm Hands and Machinery Operators to join our expanding business.
  • At Koojan Downs Farm & New Norcia Farm, and Hill River Farm, you’ll work a 38-hour week, with overtime opportunities available.
  • These roles will suit self-motivated people who are hands on and passionate about the agriculture industry. You will have a strong work ethic and be willing to learn and contribute to the team.

Please note:

  • These are permanent positions, those on short term/working holiday visas will not be considered.
  • You will need to have a current driver’s licence and own transport.

Backgrounding Livestock Hands

You will support all day-to-day responsibilities for livestock, including paddock riding for observation of animal health.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily cattle husbandry operations - including feeding, mustering, cattle movements and regular paddock checks to monitor animal health and grazing conditions.
  • Assist with livestock processing tasks such as drafting, weighing, scanning, loading and unloading cattle, while maintaining low-stress handling practices and strong animal welfare standards.
  • Regular maintenance of farm infrastructure, including fencing and water systems, to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the property.

Farm Hands

Responsibilities include: 

  • Support day-to-day farm operations, including livestock handling, feeding, paddock checks and general animal husbandry.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and vehicles, while assisting with tasks such as fencing, spraying, and infrastructure upkeep.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure safe, efficient operations, with a strong focus on animal welfare and property maintenance.

Machinery Operators
At our farming properties, you’ll be hands-on in the daily operation of loaders, trucks, telehandlers and other machinery. Experience operating chasers, seeders, sprayers and GPS-guided agricultural equipment will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating a range of machinery, including loaders and skid steer loaders, with a strong focus on safety
  • Supporting day-to-day farm operations and equipment upkeep
  • Maintaining high attention to detail across all tasks
  • Applying sound mechanical knowledge to assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • Current driver’s licence (minimum HR preferred; HC or MC highly regarded)
  • Previous experience operating farm machinery and equipment
  • Strong safety awareness and practical, hands-on approach

Ideal skillset:

  • Must have a driver’s licence and own transport.
  • Agricultural knowledge and cattle handling experience is desirable.
  • Constantly demonstrate commitment to safe working practices and animal welfare.
  • Able to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Motivated and hard-working, willing to contribute to the Harvest Road team culture.
  • Computer skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Possess sufficient fitness level to carry out required tasks.
