About the role

Cost Controller to join our APAC projects team. The role is offered on a 12-month max-term contract and is located at our Brisbane CBD office.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President - Projects APAC, you will be responsible for monitoring project costs, analysing variances, and implementing cost control measures to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints.

Duties

  • Develop and maintain project budgets and cost breakdown structures (CBS)
  • Establish and implement cost control procedures and reporting frameworks
  • Monitor project costs against budget and track expenditures continuously
  • Analyse cost variances and identify risks, overruns, and optimisation opportunities
  • Forecast project costs and support financial risk mitigation with project teams
  • Review contractor and supplier invoices, payment claims, and variations for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including costs, invoices, and transactions
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports, dashboards, and KPI reporting
  • Perform earned value analysis (EVA) and productivity tracking
  • Support change management, including cost impact assessments
  • Support contract administration through cost verification and progress measurement
  • Collaborate with commercial teams on claims, contingencies, and risk allowances
  • Contribute to cost risk and contingency management

About you

  • Tertiary Degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field – Desirable
  • 3+ years' experience in cost control
  • Understanding of project management principles, cost accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques
  • Understanding of cost management software, spreadsheet applications, and financial modelling tools
  • Exposure to project schedule management tools
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
