APS6 Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - National Security and Cyber

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract: Labour-hire contract, 12 months, with possible extension options available for the right candidate
Pay: $100 - $130 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Onsite, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current NV1 clearance or above

About the Role
This is a full-time APS6-equivalent labour-hire role with our Federal Government client in a Defence and cyber environment. You will design, secure and improve the cloud infrastructure that supports critical digital services.

You will work across physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on secure multi-cloud patterns, automation and compliance. The role suits an engineer who can move between architecture, delivery, security controls and vendor conversations.

There are two roles available. Both suit cleared engineers who can work onsite in Canberra and make sound technical decisions in a sensitive environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design scalable cloud solutions for complex technical and business requirements
• Implement and maintain enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure
• Configure VPCs, compute, storage and cloud-native components
• Optimise cloud environments for security, reliability and cost performance
• Work with product owners and developers to implement security controls
• Align cloud solutions with the PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight and internal policies
• Deploy and integrate CNAPP and SASE solutions across multi-cloud environments
• Build proofs of concept for emerging security tools before wider adoption
• Automate deployments, operational tasks and security orchestration through IaC, scripts and CI/CD pipelines

• You've deployed and maintained enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure from design through operations
• You can configure VPCs, compute, storage and cloud-native components
• You've implemented cloud security controls aligned with the PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight
• You can translate business and technical requirements into robust cloud solution designs
• You've automated cloud deployments using Infrastructure as Code, scripting and CI/CD pipelines
• You work well with product owners, developers and vendors in security-conscious environments
• You're an Australian citizen
• You must hold a current NV1 clearance or above

• Experience deploying or integrating CNAPP and SASE solutions
• Experience across multi-cloud environments
• Experience building proof-of-concept environments for cloud or security tools
• Experience in Defence, national security, cyber security or another sensitive Commonwealth environment
