With the continued growth and diversification of our business, we are looking to appoint a Civil Estimator to join our Western Region (WA) Infrastructure business based in Welshpool, Western Australia.

For this role, Fulton Hogan is offering an exciting career path for a Civil Construction Professional to become an established Estimator within the wider Fulton Hogan Infrastructure Services business. Key clients include National Defence, State Government, Local Government and the private sector throughout the WA Region.

You will be provided with direct support from the local business and formal mentoring from the Business Development Manager to develop and grow your estimating prowess and unlock your full potential. We will provide initial and ongoing training in the use of Expert Estimator Genesis.

You may be an existing Estimator, a Project Engineer or a Civil construction professional seeking a new career path without the rigorous demands of site-based roles. Substantial delivery phase and demonstrated site experience is essential to this role. You will have great communication skills with a good rapport with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers across the industry and enjoy working in a team environment.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking first principals estimates for earthworks and civil road works up to $50m.
  • Managing the tender process from start to finish.
  • Reviewing all tender documentation.
  • Attending onsite tender briefings/site visits as required.
  • Assisting in developing a winning construction methodology, including staging.
  • Co-ordinating and sending out subcontractor/supply pricing packages and performing overall quote analysis.
  • Preparing risk and opportunity analysis strategies, quantity take-offs, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.

To be successful we are seeking the following:

  • Intermediate knowledge within the Civil Construction Industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of civil infrastructure projects, pricing from first principles and/or delivering projects on site with ambitions to transition into a full-time Civil Estimator role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written.
  • Detailed knowledge of estimating software such as Expert Estimator or equivalent estimating packages will be highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Ability to construct Construction Programs in MS Project.
  • Relevant Engineering, Business, Commerce or Construction Management qualifications is preferable, but not essential together.
