Asahi Beverages is currently seeking an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our iconic Abbotsford brewery. As an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter, you will have the opportunity to partner with and learn from experienced tradespeople and specialists. You'll be learning the trade while working with the maintenance team, participating in competency development activities and assisting with general mechanical activities such as machine maintenance and fault-finding; studying drawings and specifications; checking, fitting, and assembling parts. 

This is an Apprenticeship, supporting you in obtaining a trade certificate, alongside practical manufacturing experience with Australia's leading Beverage company.

Highly regarded applicants may also possess the following:

  • Prior studies in a technical discipline, or hobbies relevant to mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in an environment where safety protocols were followed
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to follow instructions and reliably support a team 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend and complete all RTO requirements contributing to earning your qualification
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team 
  • Assist in problem-solving and the execution of assigned work
  • Investigate and escalate equipment or machine related issues to the appropriate specialist or manager
  • Study drawings and specifications to identify suitable materials, methods, and the sequence of operations
  • Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble metal parts and subassemblies to manufacture machines and equipment
  • Participate in risk assessments to contribute to ongoing improvements in machine and process safety
  • Ensure compliance with job specifications, maintaining a high standard of quality in all work performed
  • Follow and apply all safe working procedures and practices consistently
