Tradesperson Fitter - RTS OPS QLD

Downer Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) is a leader in delivering high-quality rollingstock manufacturing and overhaul services across Queensland and Australia. We’re currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team in Maryborough.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role within our production team, working on the assembly, maintenance, and overhaul of rollingstock. This is a hands-on position where your expertise will contribute to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality rail solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble rollingstock and associated components
• Overhaul and assemble passenger vehicle and locomotive bogies
• Service and overhaul braking systems and pneumatic components
• Diagnose faults across various rollingstock fleets
• Complete documentation, inspection reports, and check sheets

About You

• Trade qualified – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter)
• Experience in rollingstock manufacturing or overhaul (desirable, not essential)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
• Proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused
• Professional attitude with strong communication skills
