The Role
WSP Australia is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our established Mining team in Newcastle. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of mining and resources projects across NSW and Australia, supporting the delivery of structural design solutions across studies, design, and project execution phases.
You will work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering practical and robust structural solutions for mining infrastructure and facilities.
Deliver structural engineering design and analysis for mining and resources projects
Contribute to studies, concept development, detailed design, and technical documentation
Design and review concrete and steel structures including foundations, platforms, buildings, gantries, and non‑process infrastructure
Coordinate with mechanical, civil, electrical, and project management teams to deliver integrated outcomes
Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports in line with project and WSP standards
Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and technical workshops
Support project delivery through input into scopes, schedules, and design risk management
About You
You are a technically capable Structural Engineer with experience in mining or heavy industrial environments, who enjoys working in a consulting environment and contributing to high‑quality project outcomes.
Degree qualified Structural Engineer
Experience delivering structural design within mining, resources, or heavy industrial sectors
Strong capability in reinforced concrete and structural steel design
Experience in an engineering consultancy or project‑based environment preferred
Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and design codes
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
