We now have an exciting opportunity for 2x Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our team, with a strong focus on freight rolling stock. These roles will prepare engineering specifications, reports, calculations, layouts, production drawings, and cost estimates. You will define requirements, develop reference designs for new mechanical systems, integrate them into locomotives and wagons, and ensure their safe, compliant operation.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree qualifications in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronic Engineering
• Proven rail experience with a freight focus — locomotives and wagons are essential
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct detailed investigations and deliver clear reports
• Strong computer skills, including experience in developing and managing information systems

Key Responsibilities

• Review supplier designs to ensure compliance with specifications
• Liaise with production engineers and personnel to ensure manufacturability and alignment with production goals
• Optimise designs to minimise costs and align with project budgets
• Diagnoses and correct failures or design deficiencies in existing freight rolling stock
• Provide technical direction and support to product service and maintenance teams
