Senior Cost Controller

This role offers the chance to influence high-value capital programs, lead best-practice cost governance, and mentor project teams within a Tier 1 ASX-listed organisation. 

The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Cost Controller to provide strategic financial leadership across multiple, complex construction projects within our Utilities- Water Services division. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays a critical part in enabling strong project performance through financial governance, forecasting, and commercial insight.

Based within our Utilities business, you will work across major infrastructure programs, partnering closely with project teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders to drive best-practice cost control, risk management, and financial governance. You will lead cross-project financial processes, mentor developing professionals, and play a key role in shaping financial performance outcomes across the portfolio.

This is a high-impact role supporting critical infrastructure delivery and directly influencing project success, business performance, and long-term sustainability outcomes.

What you’ll do

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial governance across multiple construction projects
• Deliver high-quality financial insights, trend analysis and early risk identification
• Drive cross-project risk and opportunity reviews and corrective action planning
• Lead month-end processes, forecasting, accruals and cashflow management
• Mentor and support cost controllers and project engineers, embedding best-practice cost control

What we’re looking for

• 10+ years’ experience in cost control, project finance or construction finance
• Tertiary qualifications in finance or engineering (preferred)
• Strong experience in capital construction environments with subcontractor delivery models
• Advanced knowledge of cost management systems, forecasting, EVPM and financial governance
• Highly analytical leader with strong stakeholder engagement and mentoring capability
