As a member of the Risk Advisory & Operations function, this role plays a critical part in enabling effective Technology and Cyber risk and control management within Bankwest. As a Technology and Cyber risk subject matter expert you will partner with business stakeholders, the Risk Fundamentals Chapter, Risk Business Partners and other subject matter experts to provide end-to-end Technology and Cyber risk advice and guidance, including issue and incident management, controls advice, inherent and residual risk assessment, risk governance and reporting.
On any given day, you will:
Co-ordinate and develop reporting for risk committees to support effective governance and oversight, providing data driven insights.
Manage incidents by coordinating responses, documenting outcomes, and identifying lessons learned.
Support issue management by tracking, escalating, and facilitating timely resolution of risk issues.
Perform risk identification activities to proactively detect and assess emerging risks.
Evaluate the risks to the business and appraise the overall effectiveness of the suite of controls, ensuring evaluations are aligned to the current business environment.
Conduct data analytics and develop/maintain dashboards to provide insights into risk and control performance.
Partner with the business to deliver pragmatic insights that enable risk-based and informed decision-making and provide assurance over controls.
Deliver risk and control enablement initiatives to achieve better risk outcomes.
Support uplift of Technology and Cyber risk capability across Risk, Advisory & Operations, and the business more broadly.
Partner with Line 2 colleagues to ensure operational risk is managed in line with the Group’s Risk Management frameworks.

Sufficient experience or specialized knowledge to allow application/modification of existing methods and systems on own initiative in line with business context.
Facilitation skills, including coaching and guiding others.
Experience in Technology and/or Cyber risk management roles
Proficient in data analytics and AI-driven insights, with the ability to extract meaningful patterns, apply machine learning techniques where relevant, and communicate findings that enable intelligent decision-making.
Familiarity with modern engineering practices including Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevSecOps. Able to contribute to resilient, secure systems and advocate for automation, scalability, and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to craft clear, structured reports and insights tailored for senior leadership and governance forums, with a forward-looking lens on emerging risks and technologies.
Rapid learner with a growth mindset—curious, adaptable, and hungry for more. Demonstrates initiative in upskilling and exploring new technologies. Embodies the qualities of a next-generation leader through attitude, aptitude, and influence.
Strong soft skills, including a growth mindset, stakeholder management, critical thinking, ability to provide constructive feedback and to synthesize information in an environment of white noise and heavy information flow.
Strong understanding of operational risk principles, with hands-on experience in incident response, issue identification, risk assessment, and escalation. Comfortable navigating complex risk landscapes in tech environments.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive and inquisitive approach to uncovering needs, asking insightful questions, and building trusted relationships that drive strategic outcomes.
Tertiary qualification in risk management, finance, engineering, accounting or related field is desirable.
Professional qualifications such as CRISC, CISA, CISM, CISSP or CCSK are desirable.
