Your New Role
The Risk Manager, reporting into the Head of Investment & Liquidity Risk, is a key member of Group Risk (Line 2) and interfaces with colleagues across the Fund.
This 8 month role will deliver independent (Line 2) investment risk reporting and insights for senior management and Board-level forums, providing a joined-up view of investment and non-investment risks arising from investment activities. They will synthesise risk information across asset classes and risk types, apply independent challenge to Line 1 reporting, and ensure reporting meets risk appetite, governance, and regulatory expectations. The Risk Manager will produce clear, practical materials and drive continuous improvement in reporting standards and processes in collaboration with Line 1, Group Risk, and other assurance teams. Significant utilisation of influence and collaboration skills is required.
Key duties include but are not limited to:
Support the Risk Type Custodian (RTC) in coordinating, drafting and submitting Fund-wide risk assessments for the Investments and Liquidity risk type(s), including consolidating inputs from Line 1 and other Line 2 stakeholders.
Support the Domain Risk Officer (DRO) in reviewing and constructively challenging the Investments Domain Risk Profile, including assessment quality, key themes, emerging risks, interdependencies and risks approaching or outside appetite.
Apply independent challenge to the quality, completeness, and clarity of investment and non-financial related risk reporting produced by Line 1 and other Line 2 teams.
Support Line 2 policy ownership responsibilities relevant to Investments and Liquidity Risk (e.g., review cycles, stakeholder consultation, updates and governance artefacts), and contribute to the maintenance of standards, templates and minimum expectations.
Represent, or support representation of, Group Risk (Line 2) at relevant Investments forums and committees, including preparing clear briefings, key messages and escalation points for the Head of Investments and Liquidity Risk.
Contribute to Line 2 Investments Domain reporting for senior management and Board/committee forums by synthesizing key insights, ensuring content is clear, concise and decision-useful.
Support continuous improvement of risk governance and oversight processes, including data quality, reporting/assurance processes and enabling systems (e.g. GRC tools).
Ensure risk is managed in accordance with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework including risk identification and management, risk profiling, risk reporting and incident management.
What You’ll Need
Demonstrated 8–10 years’ experience, ideally within Financial Services or professional services environments.
Proven experience managing both investment and non‑financial risks.
Strong understanding of the superannuation industry and its regulatory obligations.
Hands‑on experience delivering risk management activities, including risk identification, risk assessments, control assurance, and Line 2 risk management oversight.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and build effective relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
Professional, collaborative and engaging approach to stakeholder management.
A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on enhancing risk practices and outcomes.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands effectively.
