Pre-Contracts Manager

McCosker are inviting applications for an experienced Pre-Contracts Manager to join our team and drive growth across the organisation by identifying opportunities, shaping strategic partnerships, and leading pre‑contract and tendering activities. 

This role requires deep industry expertise, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Operating at both strategic and operational levels, the Pre-Contracts Manager plays a key role in promoting the organisation’s market presence and contributing to securing civil construction projects. 

This position is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction and business growth of McCosker to support long-term sustainability and provide effective leadership of the Pre-Contracts and Estimating Department.

This position will:

• Identify, pursue, and convert business development and growth strategies and opportunities in construction and civil infrastructure.
• Build and maintain a strong network of clients, partners, consultants, and industry stakeholders, including negotiating favourable outcomes.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decision‑making.
• Oversee the preparation, coordination, and submission of tenders, EOIs, and pre‑contract documentation.
• Provide expert guidance on design and civil construction project requirements, methodologies, and commercial considerations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare compliant, quality and timely presentations, proposals, standards, and reporting.

Experience and Skills

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in civil construction projects, including pre‑contracts and tendering and projects incorporating design.
• Strong understanding of relevant standards, legislation, and industry practices.
• Proven experience contributing at both strategic and operational levels.
• Knowledge and experience in organisational governance and risk management.
• Highly developed negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Extensive experience in business development and network building.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive successful outcomes.
• Familiarity with Integrated Quality Management Systems.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and project software, including Primavera P6.
