Transport & Waste Solutions Australia (TWS) is a trusted provider of servicing, repairs and system installations for mobile plant and transport equipment. Based in St Marys, Western Sydney, we support customers across NSW and beyond with practical, responsive solutions that keep fleets moving and machinery operating at its best.
We’re creating a new Operations Manager role. This represents a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building structure, improving performance and being hands-on with a busy workshop environment. You’ll report to the Managing Director and be a key member of a small management team, leading approximately 10 workshop staff.
About the role
This is a broad, day-to-day operational leadership role across our workshop and servicing function. You’ll be responsible for operational efficiency, quality and safety, while ensuring customers receive timely, professional support.
Key responsibilities include:
- In conjunction with the Workshop Foreman, overseeing day-to-day workshop and servicing operations
- Job scheduling, allocation and workflow management
- Ensuring parts are available/in stock to support planned and reactive work
- Leading, coaching and managing staff performance
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding for workshop roles
- Ensuring documentation is completed accurately and on time (job paperwork, service records, compliance-related documentation)
- Driving operational improvements to reduce downtime and lift productivity
- Ensuring safe systems of work and a strong safety culture
- Acting as the escalation point for client issues and complaints, ensuring prompt resolution and clear communication
About you
You’re a confident people leader who can bring order, accountability and momentum to a trades/industrial-style environment. You’re commercially minded, can work independently, and you’re comfortable making decisions and following through.
We’re looking for:
- Proven experience managing teams in a workshop, trades, industrial or similar operational environment (essential)
- Mechanical knowledge/experience (preferred), though trade qualification not required
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills (you can juggle competing jobs and keep things moving)
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and the resilience to handle pressure and changing priorities
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to manage customer concerns professionally
- IT savvy, ideally experienced with MS Office (including Excel) and job-management apps/software
- A continuous improvement mindset (you’ll see what can be better and take action)
What’s on offer
- Permanent, full-time role based in St Marys (Western Sydney)
- Indicative remuneration in the range $110kpa to $120kpa + super
- Company mobile phone and laptop provided
- Indicative hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

- Work with a respected service provider supporting transport, logistics, waste management, construction and local government customers
