Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Notable Precinct (Treasury) to support the day-to-day and long-term operation of a prominent Victorian government precinct within the Melbourne CBD.

Reporting to senior contract leadership, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all services in the precinct, coordinating facilities, trades, security, vendors, and critical building systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery. You will work collaboratively with onsite teams, service partners, and government stakeholders to maintain a high-performing, well-managed environment.

The ideal candidate is organised, people-focused, and steady under pressure, with a preferred 5 years’ of facilities management experience, experience managing KPIs, and a proven track record in meeting response and rectification timeframes. You will thrive in a complex, high-profile setting, supporting teams and fostering strong working relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Oversee daily operations across the precinct, ensuring services are delivered safely, smoothly and in line with agreed standards
  • Coordinate integrated delivery of maintenance, security, property management and precinct services
  • Support and guide onsite teams, subcontractors and service partners

Compliance, Safety & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with safety legislation, environmental requirements and operational standards
  • Maintain readiness for incidents, emergencies and business continuity scenarios
  • Support effective planning, scheduling and risk management practices

Stakeholder & Occupant Engagement

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with precinct stakeholders and occupants
  • Support clear communication around service delivery, access and operational needs

Financial & Reporting Management

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and cost control activities
  • Ensure accurate reporting and performance tracking through BGIS systems and governance forums

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance precinct operations and user experience
  • Contribute to service improvements, innovation and value-for-money outcomes

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Experience delivering facilities or operations services within government or contract-based environments
  • Experience working within complex, multi-building or high-security precincts
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience supporting multidisciplinary teams
  • Sound understanding of asset management, maintenance and safety systems
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and coordination skills
  • Financial awareness including budgeting and cost management
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • High proficiency with digital systems, FM technologies and data-informed reporting
  • Current Victorian driver licence and ability to obtain required security clearances

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in facilities management, property, engineering, operations or a related field
  • Experience working within notable, heritage or high-profile public precincts

Workplace Flexibility

This role is 5 days per week on-site at the Melbourne CBD office or Client Locations. Additional hours may be required on an as-needed basis.
