Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  

 

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. 

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Master Scheduler in Canberra or Sydney to work on Land projects.   

 

What You’ll Do 
 

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: 
 

  • Autonomous Planning & Scheduling Expertise: Ability to work independently with sound judgement to deliver detailed and outcome-focused schedules. 

  • Strategic Program Contribution: Provide technical, professional, and policy advice to support strategic planning and program/project management. 

  • Integrated Master Schedule Development: Drive the creation of individual schedules that align with and feed into the broader program-level schedule. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Responsiveness: Demonstrated capability to proactively identify and respond to stakeholder needs to meet program objectives. 

  • Strong Communication & Initiative: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with initiative and problem-solving ability in a complex scheduling environment. 

 
What You’ll Bring  
 

  • Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) Expertise: Proven experience in developing, maintaining, and managing IMS for complex Defence programs. 

  • Proficiency in Scheduling Tools: Skilled in using Open Plan Professional (OPP) Version 8 or higher, with deep knowledge of Defence scheduling practices. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Strong ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders and functional teams to ensure schedule integrity and alignment. 

  • Defence Framework Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the One Defence Capability System and experience within the CASG environment. 

  • Security Clearance & Government Scheduling Experience: Holds a current NV1 clearance and has experience delivering Acquisition and First/Second Pass Government schedules. 

 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
