Salary: $81,379 plus superannuation

Purpose of the Role

BGIS is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support a newly secured Victorian Government services portfolio located within a prominent civic precinct in East Melbourne. In this hands-on role, you will deliver planned and reactive maintenance across critical heating, cooling and refrigeration systems, ensuring safe, reliable performance across essential public facilities.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work closely with site teams and stakeholders to maintain compliance with contractual requirements, BGIS systems, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, test and maintain heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment using hand and power tools
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults across HVAC systems
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on cooling units and chilled water systems
  • Inspect and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Ensure plant and equipment operate efficiently and continuously
  • Accurately record works and compliance documentation in BGIS systems
  • Liaise with Facilities Managers, subcontractors and stakeholders to support smooth operations
  • Participate in occasional ad hoc on-call requirements

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar HVAC Technician role (all levels encouraged to apply)
  • Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic capability across HVAC systems
  • Trade Licence in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Current Driver’s Licence (manual)
  • White Card (General Construction Induction Card)
  • Australian Citizenship
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach

Desirable:

  • Experience with commercial or large-scale HVAC systems
  • Exposure to broader building services (electrical, hydraulic, fire systems)
  • Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems)
  • Additional certifications such as Working at Heights or Confined Space
