PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
Is to undertake standard husbandry practices which ensure the health and welfare of birds. This involves feeding, production, culling, caregiving and general welfare of birds.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES:
Understand and actively support the implementation of the Hazeldene’s Quality Policy and quality systems.
Work to verbal and/or written instructions provided by the Farm Manager.
Undertake or reorganise any work procedure as directed by the Farm Manager or as deemed necessary in the absence of a member of staff.
Pickup, remove and dispose of dead birds to quarantine standards.
In conjunction with other staff, assist in farm cleanouts and wash down as required.
Assist in the transfer or depopulation of birds as directed by the Farm Manager.
Ensure all farm administration is performed to Hazeldene’s guidelines, including the completion of all relevant reports and documentation. Such paperwork to be completed within the required timeframes.
Ensure premises and surrounding amenities are always in a clean and safe condition.
Support and follow the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy – ensure area is incident/accident free.
Maintain a satisfactory standard of dress code and hygiene.
Refrain from any association with other avian (bird) species or work on any other commercial poultry operation while employed with Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm unless approval has been given by the Farming Manager.
Report to the Farm Manager any hazards or maintenance problems that would be detrimental to the safe running of the farm.
Generally, be an active member of the farming staff, working as a positive team member, being aware of other people’s functions and providing additional support when requested.
Always maintain confidentiality regarding the business of Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm Pty. Ltd.
Ensure strict compliance with the principles of quarantine, vermin control and biosecurity by all Hazeldene’s farming operations.
Hazeldene’s takes seriously its’ responsibility to provide a safe environment and all employees are required to work safely and report any safety concerns in a timely manner to Management. This includes, but is not limited to, completing incident reports.
