Recently opened following a multi-million-dollar transformation, InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach redefines coastal luxury. Perfectly positioned on Sydney’s iconic beachfront, the reimagined hotel will offer 198 elegantly designed rooms and suites, many with uninterrupted ocean views, alongside an ocean-facing infinity pool, and a vibrant leisure deck.

We are now on the search for a highly organized, experienced and detail-oriented Executive Housekeeper to be responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction. The operation includes both in-house and outsourced resources as well as external laundry.

Your day-to-day:

  • Manage, lead and direct the activities of the hotel’s Housekeeping Department to ensure the achievement of established quality and guest service standards and departmental expenses and profit goals.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

  • Responsible for driving and embedding the culture of clean in line of our IHG Clean Promise guarantee. 

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and comprehensive departmental meetings to include a review of the day's plan, procedures and events which warrant special handling and providing detailed information.

  • Manage a positive relationship with third party providers, ensuring the best possible partnership outcomes.

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department, plan, schedule, and organise work to ensure proper coverage. Communication and enforce policies and procedures.

  • Develop and implement procedures for managing the quality of housekeeping services. Schedule routine inspections of all guest rooms and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest rooms/suites, equipment, housekeeping and good and beverage team linens, public restrooms, lobby, etc. are clean and in good repair to meet guest satisfaction.

  • Ensure that the outsourced cleaning company and in-house housekeeping team are advised of standards, deficiencies, and guest feedback and instructed on corrective action to ensure the hotel meets cleanliness metrics.

  • Manage deep cleaning projects and/or assist housekeeping team during unanticipated rush periods.

  • With strong leadership and problem-solving skills, coordinate with other departments to maintain a seamless guest experience while upholding the property’s brand standards and operational efficiency.

What we need from you

  • Full Australian working rights (this is a permanent, long-term role and sponsorship is not available)

  • At least 5 years' experience as department head for the Housekeeping function in a premium or luxury band property with multiple guest service spaces such as F&B outlets, spa, leisure areas, executive lounge and functions rooms.

  • A true understanding of luxury brand standards and how to deliver them within the housekeeping function.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional presentation.

  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Quick to learn new systems and processes

  • Strong time management with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure

  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

  • Passion for ongoing employee training and development.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and maintain data privacy

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Hospitality Management
